Just down river from the Benmore Dam which is the first of the dams in the Waitaki Valley that water from the Southern Alps meets up with on it's way to the sea, and while doing so makes some electricity so I can sit at this computer. I had just taken a drive across the dam looking for a hat I lost in the Hooker River up near Mount Cook during the summer but had no luck. Some bloke fishing must have scored it.
