The headframe of the Kelly Mine. The hoist house is at upper right; from here, a cable lowered miners into the shaft below. The Kelly Mine had eight working levels below ground; it was once the major producer of zinc carbonate (smithsonite) in the U.S. This mineral was used in paint pigments.
