It's hard to believe that 43 years ago on Wednesday, June 21st, 1972 at 1:00 am this disappeared in a blink of an eye when the levee let go. Many people sleeping in their boats woke up in the middle of the island. No one was killed and there were just a couple of serious injuries. The governor of California was Ronald Reagan and the Watergate scandal was starting to really open up. Oh yes, I was 18 years old.....sigh.
