Here are some random thoughts and a recommendation.

The recommendation: Jim Brandenburg, Chased by the Light, NorthWord Press, Minnetonka, MN, 1998.
My recommendation is to see if your library system carries this book and check it out that way. It is a narrative and work of a 90-day period in which the author limited himself to taking only one photo a day for the 90 days of autumn. It is the basis for my “My Best Shot” gallery.

I started this gallery before reading the book and have therefore decided to change my approach to this project as follows.

1. Jim Brandenburg is a much better photographer than I. My goal therefore, is to show improvement from day to day.

2. The area these photos were created in is much more photogenic than the area around my humble abode. A second goal is to thoroughly explore my vicinity and find places that are photogenic. (This will be most difficult as I really don’t like my area very much and would move yesterday if my wife said “ok”).

3. I would like to improve my writing ability. Therefore I’ll try to write something for each entry into this category.

4. While Jim Brandenburg limited himself to only 1 photo a day, I will limit myself to 20 photos a day, (I expect to visit northern MN in September and want the leeway to take as many photos as I want). However, I will use only the 1st photo taken during a day to post in this gallery.

I have plans to leave photography behind me. However, this is one last “gasp” to rekindle the desire to take photos. I will not be activating comments and will eventually be deleting all galleries except “My Best Shot”.
