Amsterdam Light Festival 2019

Light Artwork the "Butterfly Effect" by Masamichi Shimada. The butterflies not only rise and fall with the movement of the water caused by passing boats, but their wings glow blue against the dark night. The title of the artwork refers to American scientist and meteorologist Edward Lorenz’s (1917-2008) 1961 lecture titled, ‘Predictability, does the Flap of a Butterfly’s Wings in Brazil Set Off a Tornado in Texas?’.
