Wat Prasat Hin Khao Phnom Rung, commonly known simply as Wat Phnom Rung was built on an extinct volcano. It symbolizes Lord Shiva's abode on Mount Krailasa; hence, the processional way leading to the central sanctuary, its stairways, and naga bridges extending in total for 200 meters (655 feet). The temple's construction began in the 10th century, and, like other Khmer sites, lies on a route to Angkor Wat in Cambodia.
