The Glines production of Harvey Fierstein's TORCH SONG TRILOGY, directed by Peter Pope, opened off off Broadway at the Richard Allen Center on October 16, 1981 for an 8 week limited run. It extended 4 weeks then transferred to Actors Playhouse, where it played for 117 performances (January 15, 1982 to May 30, 1982). After 8 previews, the production opened on Broadway on June 10, 1982 at the Little Theater (now the Helen Hayes), where it won 1983 Tony Awards for Best Play and Best Actor (Harvey Fierstein) and ran for almost 3 years (1,222 performances). It closed May 19, 1985.
