St. Petersburg

Known as the city of the tsars, St. Petersburg was founded by Peter the Great in 1703 as his "window on Europe". Considered the cultural heart of Russia, the city boasts one of the world's greatest museums, the Hermitage, with over 3,000,000 works of art, dating from the Stone Age to the present.
