On the north bank of the Huang River stands the famous Thien Mu Pagoda, which for years has been
the heart of intellectual and political Buddhist activity. Built in 1844 on the site of a religious center
founded in 1601, perhaps the most striking feature of the temple is the seven storey pagoda, pictured above.
