Built by the French in 1939 to hold political opponents, the Tiger Cages were part of the
notorious Con Son Island Prison. During the American War, the cages were maintained by the
U.S. for non-combatants, almost 10,000 prisoners. U.S. officials claimed the cages did not exist.
