Producer Lawrence Lane

Larry first worked with The Glines as the lead in the musical GULP! in 1977 and 1978. Early in 1979 he produced
Doric Wilson's A PERFECT RELATIONSHIP and followed that up by producing three plays in repertory (A PERFECT
RELATIONSHIP, STREET THEATRE, also by Doric Wilson, and PRISONER OF LOVE by Richard Hall) that summer at
the Spike Bar. From then on, Larry was the Line Producer for everything The Glines did, including Jane Chamber's
LAST SUMMER AT BLUEFISH COVE, Robert Patrick's T-SHIRTS, and, most importantly, the First and Second Gay
American Arts Festivals, which could never have happened without him. In 1981 he began work on Harvey Fierstein's
TORCH SONG TRILOGY, eventually guiding it from Off Off Broadway to Off Broadway to Broadway, for which he won
both a Tony and a Drama Desk Award. He won his second Drama Desk Award and a Tony nomination for William
Hoffman's AS IS. Anyone familiar with the real history of The Glines knows that the company would never have
achieved what it did without the dedication, hard work, creativity, and patience of Lawrence Lane.
