AS IS, written by William M. Hoffman and directed by Marshall W. Mason, was a co-production by The Glines and the Circle Repertory Company. It opened Off Broadway on March 10, 1985 at the Circle Rep Theater and ran for 49 performances, after which it was transferred to Broadway, where it ran for 285 performances (May 1, 1985 to January 4, 1986). Subsequently, it won the 1985 Drama Desk Award for Best Play and garnered three Tony nominations: Best Play (William M. Hoffman, John Glines, Lawrence Lane, Lucille Lortel, and the Shubert Organization), Best Director (Marshall W. Mason), and Best Actor (Jonathan Hogan).
