Widemouth Bay just down the road from Bude in North Cornwall is a really interesting place to visit at any time of the year, and in winter it's a great place for spectacular sunset shots. The bay is probably best known for its year-round surfing potential, but in Summer Widemouth is a wonderful family beach with plenty of sand and any number of interesting rock pools. It is naturally split into two parts: the Northern end where there is a Council Car park, and Southern "Black Rock" end which has large private car parks. In the holiday season dogs are banned at the Northern end. The geology here is absolutely fascinating.
