Looking down on Belstone Cleave

Now this is the kind of shot that most outdoor people hope their camera will be able to take, but it really isn't that easy as the human eye has isolated just one small part of the landscape and is examining it in detail. Actually it's quite a hazy looking shot straight out of the camera. Maybe what we like here is the Curves of the hills and the 3D, the hints of rocks amongst the trees and that little white house just off-centre. I've used Curves in Photoshop to introduce a little contrast to cut through the haze and make the image more like I thought I was seeing it at the time. Again, the Fuji is recording sufficient detail in the shadows to allow reworking.
I have the feeling that my little Canon s400 (notwithstanding the fact that this is a telephoto shot) would have done all that work in-camera. The DSLR would have made a somewhat clearer image too. So do bear in mind if considering a camera like this Fuji that things do not necessarily 'pop' straight out of the box.
