Wounded in action

Scroll down to see all 3 sides.

From a war memorial art exhibit which was on a nationwide tour in 2010. Venues included Chicago, Washington DC, San Francisco, and the United Nations. The gallery featured artwork created by war veterans, trauma victims, and the physicians who treated them .

My entry was a series of 3 images (representing misery, despair, and death) supported by a tripod structure made up of
interlocked Orthopaedic fixation frames, all previously used to treat victims of high energy trauma.

The provisional framework (built in Uncle Fred’s workshop);

The images were printed onto 3 rough and sharp metal plates which represented shrapnel

A description for each of the 3 images was placed on a series of dogtags attached to the construct
(we are not allowed to reuse these fixation frames in the USA. A silly waste of expensive hardware).

I had a pretty good spot up front:

(bottom right is the chairman of the International Orthopaedic Association.
His picture is on the front page of the magazine he is holding.)

Lots of interesting artwork at the exhibit. A few examples from other contributors:
