Our chore for today was cracking walnuts. Ginny's mom picked them up from the tree by the carport. She gave us a 50 lb onion sack full of them. Now, you are thinking, that is a hell of a lot of cracking. It is. It was made MUCH easier by Ginny's sister Patty who has a nut cracking machine. In a couple of minutes they were all cracked. We spread them out on a table and commenced to spend about an hour separating the nutmeats from the shells. Ginny's dad vacuum packed them for us. We ended up with seven pounds of the things.
