I have quite a few students taking Pre-Calculus. They are just finishing up the unit on Trig. This is probably one of that most difficult of all the units they encounter in high school math. It is interesting to me how much the students psych themselves out. Their self talk is that this is hard and they will never get it. I tell them "This is easy, let me show you how to do it." That often works wonders. When they decide to have an attitude adjustment and start telling themselves that they CAN do it, it makes a big difference. Agent Listorama is the exception to this rule. I think John Cooper would do just fine.
I certainly will not cosine anything, even if I am at the beach, getting a tan. It is a shame of the highest order that an honorable philosophy like trigonometry is sullied by being considered a preparation for The Evil Math. Texas is doomed.
