I have been learning how to use iTunes. This is not easy for a person who started into computers with FORTRAN and punch cards. I have been long initiated into the PC world, but now I have to deal with Apple. This is because of Ginny's iPod. As far as I am concerned, Apple stuff sucks. All of their information assumes you are a lame brained tree hugger. There is NO TECHNICAL DETAIL in anything these bozos write. Yeah, I know that all the human interfaces are supposed to be intuitive, but alas I am not a brain dead apple freak. It is not intuitive to me. All I wanted to know is whether iTunes copied files into the subdirectory or whether it used shortcuts. It took me an hour of going through their idiotic FAQ and help files to find the answer.
Anyway, Ginny and I went to the Apple Store today to get a case for her iPod. If you have never been to an Apple Store, save yourself the trip. The staff is snotty. They assume that you are some sort of whiny "better than you" type person who is an Apple snob. If you have seen their commercials, you realize that you have to be pretty damn cool to use their stuff. I am the chubby guy on the left that uses PC products, and they are ridiculing me. I am not cool therefore I don't use their stuff. Never will. I am going to get a Zune for me. Or maybe not. Heck, I don't know.
One of these days I will let you know what I really think.
If you need any help, me and my brother can answer any technical question from this world. Or my brother and I if you are a word snob.
My grandfather was a Master Greengrocer and I am an Apple Expert.
The Spartan is without a doubt the finest apple ever grown.
Hope this helps.
I feel your pain! The phrase "no technical detail" rings bells. Poorly-designed objects and systems and inaccurate (or inadequate) operating instructions are the pits. I think all FAQ pages in the world should be destroyed, as they are a worthless investment in bytes, time, and human inquiry. The PBase help system could use some serious improvement too.
I had to visit an Apple store for a very similar reason for my son's iPod. Half way through the sales pitch I had to listen too about buying one for myself I explained that I had gone over to the dark side a long time ago and didn't expect ever to return to the light. I will say the girl trying to make the sale thought that funny and shut up.
