I had a chance to get back to my scanning project. I finally figured out how I am going to scan and catalog the photos. The big breakthrough to productivity was the realization that I can't fiddle the color on each scan as I go, so I make a TIFF file of the raw scan that will be manipulated some time in the future. That way I can do a lot of scanning and save the color correction for later. Also later will be resizing to a convenient size for recording on a CD or DVD. So, I will end up with the raw scans and eventually color corrected smaller jpg files.
Anyway, the first album I opened up was the one where our oldest son, Richard, joined us. This photo was taken in front of the house just after he arrived. That was in 1981. I thought that the color restoration came out reasonable. I am sure it can be tweaked further, but this would certainly be an acceptable image for an electronic family photo album.
I think I detect a man's hair style that is very different from that of the current-day photos. Would you believe that in late 1973 my hair went down to my shoulders?
