This is Bloke's patented tear away landing gear. He builds (and rebuilds, I might add) his models so that when they do crash they fall apart into large pieces and structures that just need to be glued back together. Actually, one of his Funtana planes suffered a tip stall on landing and hit a wing, tearing off the wing and the landing gear. Bloke had mixed emotions because he hated to break an airplane, but he was running short of things to fix.
