There was a knock at the door this morning. It was a lady holding a beautiful bromeliad. That certainly got Ginny's attention. We asked her in and it turns out she was from Nielson and she was recruiting "carefully selected" families to sign up for having their media preferences monitored. There was a little money involved, one hundred bucks to start and sixteen dollars per month after that. Of course everything would be anonymous (of course). They would give each of us of a small black box about the size of one of those old pedometers. The gadget would collect our electronic interactions and report back to places unknown. Ginny was interested, but I said there is no way in heck that I am going to let somebody record all my media interactions. So that was that, but she gave us a fifty dollar gift certificate for our trouble.
