I had a meeting with the pulmonary specialist today. We reviewed that CT (Computed Tomography) scan I had during my medical interlude at the hospital. A blod clot was observed in one branch of the pulmonary artery which is not (currently) life threatening. My medication is Eliquis (an anticoagulant) which is supposed to prevent further clot formation. The body actually has a mechanism to remove clots, but it takes some time. My next CT is in six months.
I found out with great glee that I could download the CT scan. The slices are 1.5 mm thick so I can scroll through and have a look. Today's photo is a slice that shows the blood clot (red arrow). If you are interested, there is a good YouTube video that shows how a CT scanner works (start at 1:26). The whole scan only takes a few seconds.
