There is an interesting weather event going on over Europe. A very strong storm (Ciarán) is being fed by an unusually high velocity jet stream. The weather is going to be awful over England and Northern Europe. What is interesting is that eastbound transatlantic air traffic is getting quite a boost from the jet. Here is a screen capture I just grabbed from Flightaware.com (you should try it, it's free) showing American Airlines flight 136 from Los Angeles to Heathrow heading out over the Atlantic. The ground speed is an astounding 769 miles per hour compared to a normal cruise of 550 miles per hour. The westbound flights are going far north over Iceland and Greenland to stay out of the jet stream. The flight planners at the airlines are having an interesting time for sure.

Hello Houston,
At this moment we are witnessing the passage of Ciaran here in Egem. The situation is not as intense as in France, but there is still some concern.
But...so far, so good...
greetings from Egem
