A couple days ago I went out and took some photos of the eclipse. I thought I could see a sunspot, but it turns out that it wasn't. Pesky dirt on the sensor, I think. Anyway, I got to thinking (when I start to do that Ginny says be careful you might hurt yourself) that I might try again this time with the whole sun disk visible. I also found a web site that is all about sunspots and solar activity. So I went out and took a few frames with my variable neutral density filter. Sure enough after a few tries and downloads to check what was happening I actually got an image with sunspots. I compared my image to the above mentioned web site and sure enough they were sunspots, not dust. I have to admit that some judiciously applied Topaz greatly enhanced the result. I thought this was pretty cool.
