Today I decided to have a serious go at using Canon Camera Connect to control my SX70. My previous experience with the app was not too good. The hardest part is just getting the camera connected. Anyway, with the camera mounted on a sturdy tripod I went out and did some shooting in the front yard. The app is nice because you can control a lot of stuff including the zoom. One other thing that is nice, the camera can utilize the iPhone GPS while it is connected to the app.

Still this camera is frustrating. The autofocus can be squirrelly especially in a "busy" environment at the short focal length. I found the autofocus quite good at 1365 mm equivalent, but it pays to be using a tripod for that. it is going to take a lot more practice to get all out of it that can be had.
