My hangar mate Bloke is a habitual volunteer for anything related to aviation. Today he did a Young Eagles flight with a youth from the area. This is a program sponsored by the EAA to give orientation flights to youngsters in order to promote general aviation. The way it works is the pilot takes the student for a short (15 minute) local flight and gives the subject a chance to see how an airplane works and even get a chance to take the controls. Definitely high value PR. The student today arrived with his parents. Bloke conducted his usual exhaustive preflight briefing. They went out and did the flight. We retired to the air conditioned office and did a debrief which took over half an hour. It was the kind of stuff parents eat up. So a good time was had by all.
