This was a relocation and visiting day. Our first stop was Mission San Juan Capistrano. The interesting thing is that the chapel, now the church, was built when Father Serra was around and he actually said mass there. We drove on and stopped at Mission San Diego de Alcala in San Diego. It was nice, but these missions are starting to blur together for me. There are 21 of them in Alta California. Ginny means to visit them all, but not on this trip. Finally we ended up at Cabrillo National Monument. This is where Juan Cabrillo landed in 1542 and claimed it all for Spain. There is a cool lighthouse there, Old Point Loma Lighthouse. Today's photo is looking down the circular stairwell in the lighthouse.
