I started fiddling around with our image database today. It started out by deleting crappy images and redundant images. As I worked at it I realized there were some improvements to keywords that I could make. Today it was Bald Eagles to start with. I had used two different keywords: bird and birds. That doesn't sound like a big deal, but when it comes to searching it makes a difference. I chose birds. In my scheme, birds are also considered to be "critters", so I made sure all the bald eagle photos were assigned "critters" as well. Then it was on to ducks and seagulls. Same process. I spent some more time fixing other keyword issues. Keywords are very important. Hardly a week goes by without searching our photos for something. A common search is Ginny wanting to know what she wore the last time we visited with friends. A lot of times it is finding out when we did something.

Then it was time to run backups. I use Vice Versa Pro. It works exactly how I want it. It has been part of our work flow for a very long time. Actually I ran it twice. Once in the middle and once at the end. Today's image is a screen grab of the backup doing its thing at the end. There were 1757 files being backed up because there were modified during the keyword exercise. The earlier backup had about the same number.
