Finished up my IA renewal application today. There was a twist this year because the FAA made an online application system available. It is called the Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application (IACRA). I was pretty excited to give it a try. The FAA made a set of instructions available which I downloaded. It was 28 pages long! Hoo Boy. This could turn out to be quite a chore.

I made sure I had quite a bit of time available and waded into it. What it actually does is collect information from you and generate a form 8610-1, which is the one used for IA certifications. There is a process for and e-signature. Press the button and you are done. It was easy. IA renewals are done in March of odd numbered years. The application will sit in the inbox until the beginning of March then some human will examine it and either approve or disapprove.
