I bought a new pistol a few weeks back. Finally got to the range to try it out. It is very nice. It is a Beretta M9-22 which uses a .22 long rifle cartridge. I also have a Beretta M9 which is a 9mm pistol. Both are the same size and function the same. I figured that I would practice a lot more with the 22 since ammunition is a heck of a lot cheaper.

Anyway, back at the house I field stripped it to clean it up and found the flange on the slide return spring guide had broken. I actually found the broken off bit in the mechanism of the pistol. That certainly is the pits. I took it back to the store this morning and showed them what happened. In less than 10 minutes I was out the door with a new slide return spring mechanism. The company is Carter's Country here in Houston. They are local and very nice to deal with.

Todays photo is of the broken flange. Just for reference, it is about 9mm in diameter. It is interesting to note that the whole firearm is made out of various types of metal except this guide which is made out of plastic. Who the hell designs these things. There is an aftermarket stainless steel guide in my future.

p.s. This shot was taken with my iPhone 12 Pro Max at about 4 inches and high magnification. It is just what I wanted and so easy to do. My iPhone is continuing to impress me with its utility.
