Queen Nefertari, the beloved and favorite wife of Ramses II, has a tomb in the Valley of the Queens. It is a pretty big one and it is very well preserved. It is amazing to me that the colorful wall inscriptions are so vivid after 3200 years. One key contributor to the longevity is that the colors are actually finely ground minerals rather than organic colorants.
