When the lower Aswan Dam was completed in 1902 there was a celebration. They built the Cataract Hotel to house all the dignitaries. There was one heck of a party apparently. Anyway, we ate dinner in the 1902 Restaurant in the Cataract Hotel. It was the venue for partying. We successfully attempted to keep the party going for one more night. The Cataract Hotel is where Agatha Christie stayed while writing "Death on the Nile." I hauled a suit all through Egypt and Jordan just because Ginny said I needed to for this special dinner.
