Our guide, Fadel Gad, has connections. He is our age and studied under Dr. Zawi Hawass. They remain great friends after all these years. Fadel wanted to get into the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (Alexandria Library) but the tickets were limited and sold out. He called Dr. Hawass, the former Egyptian Director of Antiquities, and PRESTO, we were in. Not only in but with a VIP tour. The place is amazing.
