We bought some chicken thighs today at Kroger. I like them a lot better than chicken breasts which have no flavor. Anyhow I was packaging them for the freezer and got to wondering how much actual chicken was there. I piled them up and it came to 2.70 pounds (or 2 pounds 11 1/8 oz. which is showing on the scale). The package said 3.11 net pounds. It also says there is up to 15% added broth and stuff. All that stuff ends up in the pad they put in the bottom of the product tray. For this particular sample, the difference is 0.41 pounds or 13.2 %. So there seems to be truth in packaging. I am easily amused.
