We are planning a trip to Egypt in October. We decided that we didn't want to haul all our camera gear along because we need to travel light. Ginny has a Canon Powershot G15 and I have a Powershot G5 X. These are decent cameras and the right size to take along. We decided to bring along a backup camera because stuff happens. In Hawaii the wind blew over our tripod and destroyed the camera on it.

So the plan was to get a new G5 X Mark II. I would use it and Ginny would use the G5 X and her old G15 would be the backup. Well, getting the new camera is a problem. They are not in stock anywhere. Although we have a couple months I have a sneaking suspicion that the desired camera is going to be a long time coming.

So what? Well, I was rummaging around in my boxes of camera stuff and came across a Powershot G15 that we had forgotten about. I pulled it out, charged the battery and snapped a few in the house. Seems to be working.

I wonder what other kinds of cool things are lurking in our boxes of stuff.
