We had a trip into Philadelphia to see the (relatively) new Museum of the American Revolution. It was opened in 2017. Although the exhibits were well done, it was a rather small exhibition in a very big building. There were several movies which were OK. It was worth one visit to add it to the list of museums we have seen. There is no reason for us to return.
Ginny found out that the Betsy Ross house was only a few blocks away so we went over there and had a visit. They had an audio tour which was very good. They also had a re-enactor who was very good. She stayed in character and we had a nice conversation. It was weird, though, conversing with a person portraying Betsy Ross wearing a mask. Although the veracity of the story of the first flag is in doubt, I prefer to continue to believe it.
The most interesting part of the exhibit was the probate papers from her first husband's death. On it is the only known signature of Betsy Ross. It was signed "Elizabeth Ross." We couldn't get a photo because it wasn't allowed.
Today's photo is of the house. It is still there after 280 years. That is cool
