Day 28
Today was part relocation and part excursion. The excursion part was a boat trip along the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Lake Superior. There are rock formations and caves along the shore. The interesting part is where various types of minerals have seeped through the rock layers and deposited colors. That is today's photo.
We ended the day at a quaint (a bit run down) hotel in Copper Harbor, Michigan. This is on the Keweenaw peninsula of Upper Michigan. A century ago there was massive copper mining here. Today there is no mining. The town of Copper Harbor was once bustling, but no longer. There are a bunch of small hotels for the people, like us, who are going to take the ferry boat to Isle Royale National Park. We got checked in and went in search of dinner. We ended up at a food truck with fried fish and fish tacos. They were very good. The rest of the evening we spent consolidating luggage for the ferry ride to the park.
