Day 10
Yesterday was a relocation day as we went from the Outer Banks to Columbia, SC. Today the big whoopie was a visit to Congaree National Park, the 46th National Park we have visited. Most of the park was flooded because of the Congaree River doing its annual thing. They do have a big boardwalk that is (mostly) above the water. We headed out and did a 3.2 mile hike out and back. It was nice scenery, but devoid of critters for the most part. I had to settle for a squirrel when I was hoping for some interesting birds.

After lunch we returned to Columbia to pick up some sights we missed when we were there a couple years ago. That included the Woodrow Wilson home where he lived in 1870-1874 before he went off to college. His father was a professor at Columbia Theological Seminary. It was interesting to see the house but there were little Wilson family stuff there. Mostly it was displays about reconstruction after the Civil War and how it may have affected Wilson's politics. One of his great accomplishments was the 19th Amendment, Women's suffrage. What they failed to mention was his other accomplishments like the Internal Revenue Act which brought the federal income tax and the 18th Amendment, Prohibition.

Today's photo is self explanatory.
