During our Hawaii trip we managed to screw up some cameras. I wrote about the destruction of Ginny's favorite camera, a Canon Powershot G16. She used my G15 for the rest of the trip. I also managed to damage my Canon 5D MkIII by somehow breaking off the multi-controller button. The latter is definitely fixable, but it requires a trip to Canon service to make it good again. The turnaround would be weeks to get that done. I used my trusty Canon 7D MkII for the balance of the trip. That worked fine, but I really wanted a full frame camera as the primary and the 7D MkII as the back-up body. It is also what I use with my 100-400 zoom telephoto. So after a little debate, we decided to invest in some new equipment. I had been lusting after a Canon 5D MkIV for quite a while. I could order it from B&H and have it in time for our next road trip starting June 4. We also needed a replacement for the G16 and decided the G5X would do the trick. Ginny's favorite lens for her T5i broke a while ago and she was using our spare 24-105 EF L series lens. She really liked the 18-135 EF-S zoom, so we decided to get one of those as well.

So anyway, the FedEx guy arrived today with our new camera loot. I am excited to get out and take some photos.
