So we headed off on a trip to Alpharetta, GA, to visit Robert, Laura, Peyton and Kensie. It is about 850 miles, a long drive. Years ago we would do it in one day, but no longer. Our objective today was Tuscaloosa. That is about 625 miles, a long haul. On trips like this we want to get close to Atlanta so that we can make it to Peyton's school to have lunch. Traffic wasn't bad. Weather was not good. It rained throughout the drive and we slowed down quite a bit when there was standing water on the road. This being winter and standard time meant that we would finish the drive in the dark. I don't like driving in the dark. Fortunately we were heading to a hotel we are familiar with so navigating was not a problem. Upon arriving we got checked in, snacked on stuff we brought along. A gourmet repast of peanut butter on crackers worked for me. Also a couple of beers. Lights out at eight because tomorrow is an early start.

Normally when we leave town Ginny snaps some photos of the Baytown bridge. This time she decided to take a photo of the sunrise on a rainy morning out over Trinity Bay. Kinda nice, I think.
