This was the first of two days in Redwood National and State Park. It is National Park #40 on our bucket list. This place is a lot different from the rest of California which we have visited. There are no crowds. It is wonderful. We had no parking problems and no traffic jams except for a couple one lane roads due to constriction along Highway 101.
It was a relaxing day. We did a couple short hikes and just dawdled along at a comfortable pace. This part of the world tends to be foggy and damp most of the summer. It is sort of refreshing really compared to getting parched in the heat of the Sierras. Ginny decided that we needed to take a hike to see Trillium Falls. So off we went. For some reason hikes to waterfalls tend to have a lot of vertical. This one wasn't all that bad. Our efforts were rewarded with a rather puny, slow flowing waterfall. This time of year the streams are running low on water. It was cute. Just to let you see the scale of this waterfall, today's photo is of me alongside it. I know a plumber in Houston that could fix that leak in 20 seconds.
