Our oil pressure thinking paid off. We disconnected the oil pressure line and observed that no oil came out when spinning the engine. We figured that the oil pump was probably cavitating. So we tried pumping oil down the oil pressure line. After several attempts at that, we got oil pressure. That is a good thing. I put the spark plugs back in and we headed out for a test run. The first time you run the engine, you don't do it for very long. Run it a low RPM until the oil warms up then do a mag check. Well, the engine started in five blades. That was good. When the oil temperature gauge came off the peg I ran a mag check and it was perfect. Good news all around. Careful inspection of the engine showed no leaks. We are in business. The next step is to cowl it up and make a test flight. Today's photo is of a happy camper.
