We had a boat load of fun today. In the morning we went to the San Antonio Missions Historic Park and visited Mission San Jose and Mission Concepcion. The weather was very nice and we enjoyed listening to the ranger talk. The story of the missions is interesting. The most famous of the missions is Mission San Antonio de Valero, better known as the Alamo.

After lunch we headed out to San Antonio Western Shooting. This program is a western style shooting experience where you get to shoot a Colt Single Action Army pistol, a Winchester model 1873 lever action rifle and a double barreled shotgun. The whole thing took about three hours with a number of fun and interesting scenarios. We had lots of fun and plenty of shooting. Ginny's trips to the range with me paid off as she was able to shoot very well.

The final thing we did was to shoot at an axe straight on with the intention of hitting the blade squarely and splitting the bullet. They put up two styrofoam trays on either side of the axe so you could see if you actually split the bullet. All of us who tried it were successful on the first try. That was pretty neat. Today you can see Ginny and me with our styrofoam tray trophies.
