I mentioned yesterday that I spent some time out at the shooting range. While I was there I noticed these chunks of copper laying on the ground so I picked up a hand full of them. It turns out that they are what's left of a .44 magnum jacketed hollow point after it collides with a steel plate. The lead inner part of the bullet has been splattered to kingdom come and the flattened jacket was laying in front of the steel. The center of these are 0.429 inches. The one on the left is the inside of the bullet which was encasing the lead core. The one on the right is the outside. You can see the marks that the rifled barrel left on the bullet. How cool is that?? I am easily amused.
