Super Bowl Sunday. We are not big football fans, but being in the Philadelphia area with the Eagles in the Super Bowl was a good experience. At mass this morning there were quite a few parishioners wearing their Eagles gear. The pastor gave a few announcements at the end wearing his Eagles baseball cap and the recessional hymn was "On Eagles Wings." The congregation loved that and so did we. As you probably know, we apparently out-prayed the Patriots fans and the Eagles were victorious.
We had a nice little super bowl party with our friends Bruce and Beth. Bruce was in Ginny's research group with Professor Waugh at MIT. We all finished our PhDs at the same time. Once we left grad school we hadn't seen Bruce until Professor Waugh's Memorial in 2015. We found that he was living in West Chester and made sure we met up with him while we were in the area. We had a great evening. The last quarter of the game was exciting. The Eagles prevailed. The peasants rejoiced and peace returned to the realm.
