We had a great day. Ginny's cousin Debbie and her husband Ken were passing through Houston and they could spend the night. We haven't had guests in a long time. The challenge was going to be getting an upstairs bedroom ready for occupancy. The upstairs bathrooms are already finished and open for business. Ginny went into high gear on the decorating front to find suitable, decorative bed linens. It required many trips to the store dragging home items to try out. She likes to see what the stuff looks like when in place. That means that eventually a lot of stuff is going to be returned to the stores. It has been in my best interest to stay home when she goes on her expeditions. So finally she had a solution that she liked. She also had two more unique solutions for the other two bedrooms. Ultimately, she was excited to consult about decorating with Debbie who is very good at it.
I put a couple racks of ribs on the cooker and set about doing some things in the kitchen. When Ken and Debbie arrived, there were the usual pleasantries then Ginny and Debbie disappeared upstairs to begin an estrogen laced decorative consultation session. My guess is they both enjoyed the time. Ken and I spent the time talking about important stuff like whisk(e)y and other manly pursuits.
In the end we had a great dinner. The ribs came out nice. Ginny had prepared some cole slaw (excellent), corn on the cob and some beans. The best part of the whole thing was dessert which was one of Ginny's blackberry pies. Nobody in the whole world makes berry pies as good as Ginny's. Life is good.
