Project Day 80 - Exile Day 30 - The painters are still busy at the house. They started on my favorite room - the bar. In a departure from the white cabinets, the bar has a nice walnut stained finish. The cabinet maker knew that these pieces were destined for a stain finish so he made sure the exposed pieces were very nice.
On the other hand, I had a nice discovery today. I have been trying to gather information on the family. Photos are often a great source. Sometimes the clues are disguised. I was interested in where my great aunt Nora wento to nursing school. I had a formal portrait of her for graduation, but no other information. Then I found a newspaper photo of her and her mates which mentioned that she was at Grant. On the back of the newspaper clip was a reference to the year 1930. It turns out there are two Grant schools of nursing. I did some sleuthing and found a person who was a graduate of the Grant School in Ohio. There was also a Grant school in Chicago. I did find a written history of the Chicago school and in it was a listing of graduates. My aunt Nora graduated in 1931. I found it! How cool is that? I also found a photo of the graduation pin. Although you can't read the pin in the photo of Nora, you can see it is cross shaped like the photo I found.
