Project Day 78 - Exile Day 28 - This is the end of our fourth week in exile. Our little one bedroom apartment at the Candlewood Suites has worked out very well. The living space works well. Our little computer center is adequately equipped. I have been quite busy working on the family photo scanning project and Ginny can easily do her searching and ordering stuff in the evening. One thing to be learned from this experience is that most of the stuff I have at the house is really not needed. I have my regular clothes and my church clothes. That isn't much. Maybe upon returning home a lot more stuff can be sent out the door. Of course, there are important things to keep like the color printer, Nikon film scanner, pistols, rifles and shotguns, Boy Scout patches and zillions of photographs. The problem is that getting rid of stuff means saying goodbye. Of course if you haven't looked at the stuff for 30 or more years, you probably don't need it. Dave understands the hoarding instinct. So do I. It is difficult to understand. With our new house renovations, it would be bad form to put all the un-needed crap back. Unless, of course, it is Ginny's. That gets us to the old "Your stuff is my crap and your crap is my stuff" argument.
I have finished scanning all the stuff I wanted from the hoard that we picked up at my sister's house last summer. This is good news because a half dozen boxes of stuff will leave the house permanently. Now I have some interesting photos to deal with.
So today's photo is the kitchen. The painters have started installing doors and drawers. It is starting to look more finished. Our general contractor says that the counter tops could be installed as soon as next Tuesday. After that there are sinks and fixtures and handles to be installed. Then the floor. After that the appliances. Progress is being made.
