Sometimes you find things that are beyond cool. In my family picture scanning project I came across this photo of a B-24 bomber crew. My dad is on the front row on the right side. This was taken at San Pancrazio Air Base in Italy where his 512th squadron of the 376th heavy bomb group was stationed. It was taken in July of 1944, a month before his 20th birthday. He was the co-pilot and the crew completed 35 missions in late 1944 and early 1945.
I sent it to my son Richard because he looks exactly like my dad and thought he would find it interesting. He sent me a link to the 376th web site. At the time they didn't have a photo of the crew so I sent it to the group's historian. Now, here it is. This is very cool.
Wow … gives me goosebumps … could I transplant this photo and story to my aviation website alongside my shot of the B-24 which must've been a sister aircraft in that squadron ?
