Project Day 51 - Exile Day 1 - The remodeling job got started with a bang today. The wrecking crew arrived and started dismantling kitchens and bathrooms. They spent quite a bit of time putting down Ram Board temporary floor protection. This is a very thick, tough cardboard material that is taped down to protect the floors and stairs. First step was getting the appliances out of the kitchen. That included a washer and dryer in a room adjacent to the kitchen. The crew made short work of all that moving.

Then the demolition began in earnest. They had to tear up the floor in the kitchen and upstairs bathroom. They took out a bath tub and removed the toilet which was the cause of our disaster. Its tank cracked and that was the root cause of the flood.

We moved into the Candlewood suites. We have a nice one bedroom apartment. I spent the day getting things set up there. The first order of business was getting the computers set up. The WiFi here is very good so our internet connection is snappy. I brought over our laser printer and I am going to bring over the new Epson V850 scanner in the morning.

As far as today's picture is concerned, this is what they found behind the big mirror in the powder room. Certainly not my choice in wallpaper. Certainly not Ginny's as well. I guess the original owner must have had a sense of humor or maybe just bottomless bad taste. It is hard to imagine the powder room all decked out in this wall paper, but that was the way it was in 1976.

Are you sure it wasn't your taste John. We believe you anyway.

That's funny, John. It sure looks like the 70s.
